Do I need a car with 4wd?

In the North Pacific part of Costa Rica you drive a lot over graveled roads, wich are not always in the best conditions, but a 4WD is not necessary.

 

Can I access the internet Las Avellanas Villas?


Yes, we are one of the few places in Avellanas (if not the only one) where you can enjoy free WIFI in your own accomodation.

 

 

How many beds do you offer in your Villas?


We have 1 type of villa with one queen size bed and a bunk bed for max. 4 persons. We also can offer a mattress for a 5th person if you need it ($15 extra) per night.

 

 

Can we cook in the villas?


Yes, we recomend it and not only to save some money. All our villas have a kitchenette, fridge, coffee maker, toast oven and cutlery in order to prepare your desired meals together with family and friends. We also have in our community an Organic Farm where you can get really fresh tasty organic vegetables, fruits, lettuce etc., to complete your nature experience.

 

BBQ?

Yes, you can make a BBQ in our place if you like.

You only have to bring the charcoal from the supermarket and clean the smoker afterwards.

 

 

Which payment methods does the Avellanas Villas offer?


You can pay cash (dollars or colones) and with Visa or Master credit card. The local currency is Costa Rican Colon. US Dollar is accepted everywhere, the change is approximately 1 USD : 500 CRC

Is Las Avellanas Villas a good place for kids?


Yes Avellanas beach and the Villas are a great place for kids! We welcome children of all ages.

 

 

Are dogs allowed in Las Avellanas Villas? 


We are a pet friendly place, however it is prohibited to use the villas amenities with them (Towels, cookware and others). If you want to stay at Las Avellanas villas with your dog, please let us know in advance the size and type. At check out we will inspect the room to insure there is no damage caused by a misbehaving doggie. You may be charged for additional cleaning or damage.

 

 

Is it safe to swim at this beach?


Yes, even though Avellanas is a surfer's paradise you will find quiet spots to swim safely and enjoy the sun.

 

 

Do you have restaurants nearby?


YES, if one day, you should not feel like cooking, you find 2 good restaurants in Avellanas itself and more within a short drive (10 min) to Playa Negra. On the other hand you are just 20 minutes away from the famous Tamarindo (Movie Endless Summer II). Here you can find more good restaurants, nightlife and convenient services (supermarkets, banks, farmacies, shops, dentists, etc.).
 

 

Do you offer SURF-LESSONS? 


Avellanas is a surfer´s paradise and our school is right at the beach. Surf- and SUP-boards can be rented too.

What electricity voltage is used in Costa Rica?


The voltage is 110V, Frequency 60 Hz.

 

 

Do you have safety deposit boxes?


YES we have electronic safety boxes in each Villa.

 

When is the best season for SURFING? 

We have very consistent waves all year round, 3-6ft waves between April and November.

From December to March you get still plenty of 2-4ft waves with offshore winds almost all day long.

How is the climate? 

The best months to enjoy Playa Avellanas is all year round.

 

Dry season:

Dec - April (no rain, offshore winds all day long, 2-4ft waves)

 

Small rainy season:

May - June (rain aprox. 1 hour a day, calm o. offshore winds in the morning and after rainshowers, 3-6ft waves)

 

Veranillo (small dry season):

July - August (a lot of days with offshore winds, 3-8ft waves)

 

Rainy season:

Sept - November (still plenty of sunshine days, rain at night or in the afternoons, 3-6ft waves)

 

Even in September and October when it rains more often, it is nice because everything is green and you can enjoy the beach and good waves almost by yourself.
